Ogbourne Downs Golf Club

Ogbourne Downs Golf Club, Wiltshire, UK

A fabulous, challenging downland course set on the Marlborough Downs, a true gem.

Heritage

Ogbourne Downs has had an interesting and varied first hundred years, two changes of names and a change of course. The Club celebrated its centenary in 2007 and continues to go from strength to strength: despite modern equipment, with some minor adaptation, the odd fairway bunker here and a little lengthening there, the course still holds its Standard Scratch of 71 against the same Par.

The club has produced numerous county champions and was the English champion club in 1987 and the ladies section can boast a Curtis Cup player, Claire Waite.

The majority of the Club’s history was pulled together by writer and journalist, Craig Gascoigne in collaboration with Gordon Moore in 1999. The following pages are some extracts from the excellent Ups and Downs, copies of which can be found in the Clubhouse.
